New Year, New You!

2023 is coming, and it’s time for those all-important New Year’s resolutions to get made. One of the challenges of New Year’s resolutions is making them stick. We’ve all started the year with grandiose plans that often fall short after just a few months, if not weeks. This year it’s time to change all that by making small but significant changes and starting early. Below we’ll give you some guidance on making 2023 the year you take your health in hand.

Turn 2023 Into Your Year For Sustained Good Health

Let’s face it, after the last couple of years of doing our best not to get sick; it’s time to change our focus. While staying vigilant about avoiding COVID-19 is still important, our focus needs to return to improving our health, not just avoiding sickness. Being proactive about your overall health is the best way to improve how you feel each day and to make 2023 the year you finally break out.

  • Schedule Your Screenings: We all need health screenings each year; make sure you get yours scheduled early for 2023. Preventing the occurrence of disease, or catching it early, is far better than treating it once it makes its symptoms known.
  • Start Small: Exercise is essential to maintaining long-term health, but only a few people try to jump in with both feet. Building up your exercise routine is best done gradually. Start with short walks at the same time each day. It doesn’t matter if it’s 100 yards or 8 miles, just getting out the door will help start the habit. Once you’ve started, listen to your body and gradually build up your distance, the number of push-ups, weight-lifted, etc. The goal is to keep doing what you did yesterday, and any progress beyond that is a bonus.
  • Keep Up With Your Vaccines: Ensure you get vaccinated and keep up with the latest boosters for COVID-19. Getting your flu vaccine each year is also essential. By keeping up with vaccinations, you not only protect yourself but help protect those who are unable to get vaccinated for one reason or another.
  • Be Proactive: If you start experiencing symptoms of any condition, schedule a visit with your physician immediately. Even if it is a relatively mild illness, you won’t know until you see a physician.

These four steps will help set the stage for 2023 that ends with you in better health than you left 2022 with.

Schedule Your Next Visit For 2023 Today!

Start 2023 right with a visit to your physician for a check-up and consultation. Together you’ll be able to build a plan to improve your health throughout the year. Even better, involving your physician means you’ll be able to reliably track your progress and get tips when things get difficult. The last two years have been challenging as we all took steps to survive the pandemic. Now it’s time to get our health back on track and make 2023 the year we return to our active lifestyles!
